27 Feb Building our links with Derby University and QUAD
On 6 February, Laura Waters from Air Arts gave a lecture to a group of arts in health researchers at Derby University. Laura talked about the challenges in bringing arts and culture into the hospital environment and embedding it within clinical routines and working I partnership with staff to support patient experience and improve recovery and rehabilitation. Laura discussed some of the issues which could form the basis of a piece of research to demonstrate the power of the arts in helping people get better faster and we are going to work more closely with the University’s new Centre of Excellence for arts in health to achieve this.
Air Arts and QUAD also got together this month to look at how we can collaborate during QUAD’s year of wellbeing. From April, we will be providing patients with information about events at QUAD which could support their ongoing recovery and wellbeing once they leave hospital.
Air Arts was established in 2007 as the in-house arts programme for Derby Teaching Hospitals. Air Arts offers a wide range of artistic and creative activities for patients, staff and visitors at The Royal Derby and London Road Community Hospitals, to provide moments of distraction from illness, aid wellbeing and improve the hospital experience for everyone.
Air Arts relies entirely on charitable donations and public funding to deliver this innovative programme of wellbeing through the arts. If you would like to find out more about what we do or support our work please contact us
