22 Jan Christmas Flashmob at the Royal Derby Hospital
On 20 December 2017, the Royal Derby Hospital got in the mood for Christmas as a flashmob of musicians and singers performed a beautiful rendition of ‘O come all ye faithful’. The main entrance has the most amazing acoustics and the sound carried all the way down the main corridor and into the main hospital. Musicians from Air Arts performed voluntarily and included Rosie Rutherford (clarinet), Arjun Jethwa (Flute) and Freya Stokoe (violin). The singers were from Derby Hospitals choir, who perform once a year in Derby Cathedral to raise funds for the hospital charity.
Air Arts was established in 2007 as the in-house arts programme for Derby Teaching Hospitals. Air Arts offers a wide range of artistic and creative activities for patients, staff and visitors at The Royal Derby and London Road Community Hospitals, to provide moments of distraction from illness, aid wellbeing and improve the hospital experience for everyone.
Air Arts relies entirely on charitable donations and public funding to deliver this innovative programme of wellbeing through the arts. If you would like to find out more about what we do or support our work please contact us.
